National Recovery Month Reminds Hoosiers: You Do Not Have to Walk the Journey Alone

September is National Recovery Month, a time to celebrate the strength, resilience, and hope of individuals who are rebuilding their lives and improving their health.
At Bowen Health, recovery is not defined by a diagnosis. It is defined by a journey of progress, hope, and the courage to take the next step forward. Through its Addiction Recovery Services, Bowen Health partners with individuals and families every step of the way, providing evidence-based treatment, counseling, medication for substance use disorder, recovery support services, and integrated healthcare designed to support the whole person.
"Addiction is a health condition, not a character flaw," said Dr. Rob Ryan, CEO of Bowen Health. "People seek recovery from many challenges, including addiction, mental health concerns, trauma, grief, and other circumstances that affect their overall well-being. Recovery is not a sign of weakness. Seeking help is one of the strongest decisions a person can make, and no one should feel ashamed for reaching out."
National Recovery Month serves as an opportunity to challenge the stigma often associated with addiction. Shame and fear can prevent people from seeking treatment, even when effective care is available. Bowen Health encourages individuals, families, employers, and communities to recognize that recovery happens every day and that asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.
Bowen Health's Addiction Recovery Services support individuals at every stage of recovery through: Integrated physical and behavioral healthcare, individual and group counseling, medication for substance use disorder (MSUD), psychiatric and medication management services, peer recovery support, care coordination, and family support and education.
Through Addiction Recovery Services and integrated behavioral health care, Bowen Health provides compassionate, evidence-based support for individuals and families. Whether someone is taking the first step, returning to recovery after a setback, or supporting a loved one through their journey, Bowen Health's care teams are ready to provide compassionate, personalized support.
"Recovery does not happen overnight, and it does not have to happen alone," Ryan added. "Our role is to walk alongside people, meet them where they are, and help them build a healthier future. When you are ready, we are here."
Recovery rarely happens alone. It happens through partnership, support, and access to care.
Bowen Health recognizes that September is also National Suicide Prevention Month and reminds individuals and families that no one has to face life's challenges alone. If you or someone you know is struggling, call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline for immediate, free, and confidential support, available 24/7.
